Information criteria for residual generation and fault detection and isolation

Using an information point of view, we discuss deterministic versus stochastic tools for residual generation and evaluation for fault detection and isolation (FDI) in linear time invariant (LTI) state-space systems. In both types of approaches to oo-line FDI, residual generation can be viewed as the design of a linear transformation of a Gaussian vector (the nite-window input-adjusted observations). Several statistical isolation methods are revisited, using both a linear transform formulation and the information content of the corresponding residuals. We formally state several multiple fault cases, with or without causality assumptions, and discuss an optimality criterion for the most general one. New information criteria are proposed for investigating the residual optimization problem. Dans les deux types d'approches au probl eme hors-ligne, la g en eration de r esidus peut ^ etre vue comme la conception d'une transformation lin eaire d'un vecteur Gaussien. Plusieurs m ethodes de diagnsotic statistiques sont r e-examin ees, a l'aide de leur formulation en terme de cette transformation et aussi du contenu informationnel des r esidus correspondants. On formule pr ecis ement plusieurs cas de pannes multiples, avec ou sans hypoth ese de causalit e entre elles, et on discute un crit ere d'optimalit e pour le cas le plus g en eral. On propose de nouveaux crit eres d'information pour l' etude du probl eme de l'optimisation des r esidus.
